We’re trying something new…

As big fans of Nextdraft around here, we love having easily digestible content delivered to our email. We hope you enjoy this format as well. We’ll be sharing interesting links and updates about our work through this Dispatch email.

‘Taco Text’ makes Austin Monthly cover

This little app we built has mojo unlike anything else we’ve ever done. After reaching more than 100,000 people in a few weeks, it’s landed on the cover of Austin Monthly magazine, leading people to discover it while waiting in line at the grocery store. Whoa!

Taco Text was also featured in the similarly-named, but unrelated Texas Monthly magazine, where they said “you can finally live your life as fully as you intended.” Want to see what the fuss is about? You can download Taco Text in the App Store.

Popular apps in China look and act differently than the apps we use here in the states. This essay discusses some of the most interesting differences, like the prevalance of QR code scanners, themable user interfaces, and using text messaging as an interface to services like customer support. That last one is of particular interest to us, since we do so much talking to our automated bots inside Slack.

“The Wrong Dakota”

Our friend Dakota Smith has a pretty cool name. You’d think it was pretty unique, but it turns out that there are lots of Dakota Smiths out there, and many of them don’t know their own email address. That means that our Dakota receives a lot of email for the wrong people. He wrote a really interesting piece about it on Medium.

Updates to Broadsheet.io

In November, we launched the beta version of Broadsheet.io, a tool for visually constructing responsive pages. This week we released some improvements and new features, including an improved new user experience. Give it a try!

Beta test the newest XOXCO apps!

We’ve got a few more apps in the pipeline, and we’d love for you to see them before they go live. If you’re on iOS 8 interested in trying pre-release iOS software, sign up for our beta list and you’ll receive updates as they’re released.

Currently in the queue is a follow-up to Taco Text called COFFEEEMOJI, and a revolutionary new social messaging app that you’ll have to see to believe.
